Application User Acceptance Testing

BCL develops test plans, designs user acceptance test cases, facilitates UAT sessions, and manages issue and enhancement lists. We have extensive experience working with clients and liaising with application developers to get applications ready for production deployment.

  • Manage the user acceptance testing for the migration of the TUS web site from site hosted at ILMB to two new applications:
    • TUS MFR – data download application for reports and project key maps
    • TUS MOE – web mapping service
  • Quality assure data loaded into Oracle Spatial database.

Cultural / Archaeological Project Technical Support

BCL has provided a wide range of cultural services to First Nations and Government agencies. We are well aware of the sensitivities surrounding collection and use of cultural information. Maintaining the confidentiality of cultural information is a priority for BCL when engaged in First Nation projects.

BCL has worked on a variety of projects for the Provincial and Federal Government that were based on or incorporating First Nation cultural information.

These projects range from quality assuring traditional use projects funded by the government to compiling cultural information from a variety of sources for the purpose of creating comprehensive consultation tools.

  • Develop requirements for an online archaeology permit storage and distribution library.

  • Coordinate the scanning and OCR conversion and indexing of all BC Archaeological Permit Reports.
  • Project manage the development of the online library in coordination with the Queens Printer.

Description:
  • Compared spatial accuracy of Archaeological sites against the original source of locational information.
  • Adjusted spatial locations and geometry based on this supporting information.
  • Used a number of data sources, including LRDW feature classes.
  • Performed QA checks on updated sites to verify accuracy and consistency of data.
  • Provided supporting documentation for interim results, final results, and methodology.

  • Developed a technical data capture manual for use by First Nations to capture traditional use study information (TUS).  This includes spatial and attribute information. 
  • Design sample hard copy and digital maps for First Nations to use as templates for data delivery.

Consultative Areas Database
Client: BC Treaty Negotiation Office
Description:
  • Consultative areas and associated contact information were collected for all First Nations in BC.
  • Information in a variety of formats and projections was integrated into an ArcIMS web service to distribute boundaries to all land based Provincial Government agencies for purposes of consultation.

BCL has extensive experience digitizing spatial and attribute information and producing presentation quality mapping products. Our mapping services cover the full range of support from data acquisition to carrying out on site printing with our 36 inch photo quality HP plotter.

GIS Analysis & Forestry Planning

BCL specializes in managing, assembling, and analyzing spatial information to address client-planning issues. Experience with ESRI ArcObjects allows BCL to automate many analysis functions that can otherwise be time intensive.

Training Services

BCL develops training plans, training materials, and delivers training sessions across British Columbia. Audiences range from individuals, to groups, and entire corporate organizations.   BCL has partnered with Camosun College of Victoria to produce training programs for Government agencies and First Nations. Through BCL training programs users can receive certification and accreditation from Camosun College.
